PROCEDURES

Conscious Sedation
For some of you, a trip to the dental office can be a terrifying event. Conscious sedation is a prescribed medication along with Nitrous Oxide gas that allows you to have your treatment completed with reduced anxiety. After a new patient exam, x-rays, and health history is completed, the doctor will prescribe the medication best suited to your needs. A driver is required for these appointments.

Bonding

Bonding is a cosmetic technique that can quickly and painlessly correct teeth that are chipped, broken, cracked, stained, or have extensive space between them. The process can improve unsightly stains resulting from coffee, tea, tobacco or certain childhood medication; front-tooth gaps and accident-induced cracks or chips.

Crowns

A crown is a restoration that covers, or caps, a tooth to restore it to its normal shape and size. A crown is placed for a number of reasons: to replace a large restoration when there isn't enough tooth remaining to restore, to protect teeth from fracturing, to restore fractured teeth or to cover badly shaped or discolored teeth.

Dental Implants

Dental implants - replacements for missing teeth - are one of the most exciting areas in dentistry today. Dental implants attach replacement teeth directly into the jawbone. For some people they may be a viable alternative to conventional bridges and dentures.

Root Canal Therapy

When the nerve of the tooth is traumatized by injury, deep decay, or a fracture, a root canal may be performed to save the tooth. The nerve is removed and the canals in the tooth are shaped and then filled with a permanent medicated material. The procedure today is made quite comfortable by improvements in dental technology.

Oral Surgery
Our office performs basic extractions as well as the removal of most third molars (wisdom teeth).

Dentures

If most or all of your teeth have been lost, dentures can restore your eating and speaking ability, as well as improve your appearance. Todays dentures are much more effective and cosmetically appealing than they were in the past. A fitting for dentures can take place immediately after your natural teeth are removed or after the extraction sites have healed. Full dentures replace all the natural teeth; partial dentures replace only some of the natural teeth.

Veneers

Veneering is a cosmetic technique that improves the appearance of teeth. Veneers are thin pre-shaped shells made of tooth-colored materials that are designed to cover the front side of teeth. They are affixed directly to the tooth, usually without the need for anesthetic. Porcelain veneers are used to enchance rough, or seriously stained teeth. Veneers are very thin, and can completely cover the front of your tooth. They are natural, durable, and maintain their color. Ask your dentist whether veneers would improve the brightness of your smile.

Custom Whitening

People have different colored teeth. Some teeth are more discolored than others. The surface of the teeth can be stained by tobacco, certain foods and beverages such as coffee, tea, and berries and by deposits of calculus, or tartar. Discoloration of the tooth internally can result from aging, injury, certain illnesses and taking the antibiotic tetracycline during early childhood.

There are two types of whitening procedures: those done completely in the dental office (chairside whitening), or those dispensed by the dentist to be used at home (custom whitening). Whitening does not require the removal of enamel from the tooth surface. It can be performed on all types of teeth but certain types of discoloration are more difficult to remove. Some patients' teeth will lighten more than others.
