Waushara Dental Celebrates Children’s Dental Health Month with Community Outreach
At Waushara Dental, we take pride in giving back to our community and promoting lifelong healthy smiles. In recognition of Children’s Dental Health Month, our team participated in a special outreach program by visiting local elementary schools to educate young students about oral hygiene and nutrition.
Educating the Next Generation
As part of our Children’s Dental Health Month initiative, on February 13th and 14th, our team visited Wild Rose Elementary School in Wild Rose, Riverview Elementary School in Wautoma, and Tri-County School in Plainfield. We had the opportunity to educate nearly 500 students from 4K to second grade through fun and interactive sessions.
Engaging & Interactive Activities
Our team of hygienists (Molly, Marny, Mandy, and Jenny) and assistant (Shaina) made learning about dental health exciting with engaging demonstrations and hands-on activities:
- Brushing & Flossing Demonstrations – Using a fun giraffe puppet, we showed children proper brushing and flossing techniques.
- Nutrition & Oral Health – We used large-scale teeth models and food images to teach kids which foods help keep their teeth healthy and which can lead to cavities.
- Sugar Shock – Students were amazed to see how much sugar is in just one can of soda!
- Meet Flossy! – Our friendly mascot, Flossy, was a huge hit, bringing extra smiles to the event.
Building a Healthy Future
We were thrilled by the enthusiasm and curiosity of the students. They asked insightful questions, shared their own dental experiences, and proudly showed off their smiles. Our goal is to help set up local children for a lifetime of excellent oral health by making learning fun and accessible.
Continuing Our Committment to Community
Waushara Dental is committed to continuing and expanding our community outreach. We look forward to expanding our outreach efforts next year with even more hands-on activities to further engage young learners.
A Healthy Smile is a Happy Smile!
